On a roadtrip up the 101, and I saw the menu and reviews for this place, so we decided to stop by.
To start, they have "Help Wanted" and "Under New Management" on the front. With that being said, it is a bit chaotic in there, and the wait time for food is long. BUT... the food is worth the wait!! Laurie was our server and she was friendly and helpful. The kitchen was kind enough to make an odd change for me, as well, with their Ahi Tuna Nachos. I am not huge on any kind of fish, so they allowed me to get their local dungeness crab on them instead. SOO GOOD!!! The special turned out to be one of my husband's favorite dishes, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the shrimp scampi, because you have to being so closed to the ocean. It was so creamy and flavorful, with the perfect little side Caesar salad! If I wasnt on a road trip, I'd for sure come back. Highly recommend!

Cute little place and fantastic French fries! Battered cod was excellent and so was the ciopinni and the Bloody Mary is interesting to say the least. My biggest gripe was that they were out of everything but cod for fish and chips and were out of CRAB! At a crab shack!
But the decor is everything and the chef is clearly really talented. Would recommend as a date spot for sure!

Bay view dining, cold beer on tap, the chowder was good and we had the popcorn shrimp special. It came with plenty of shrimp and fries. We opted for chowder as well. It was reasonably priced and the bartender/ waitress was really nice and informative. I own a vacation rental 1 block away but I hadn’t been in since the new owners purchased the place. It’s walking distance from the Cozy Crab Cottage Airbnb so it makes it a good location to walk to, enjoy the bay and have a few beers and some food.

The picture doesn't lie. I ordered the halibut fish and chips. Try not to laugh. This is what came out. The server then said, "I'm not very happy with this plate." She added a fried piece of halibut. It was cold and dark. It was probably from the day before and then refried. I would choose another place. The fries were good. That's about it.

While camping at a nearby state park, I stopped by this bar-restaurant near Winchester Bay Pier. I ordered the Fish & Chips and their signature clam chowder. Unfortunately, the fish was overcooked—fried at too high a temperature for too long—so instead of being crispy, it ended up a bit tough. As for the clam chowder, perhaps my expectations were too high, as it didn’t feel particularly special.
It’s probably best to enjoy it without expecting too much. That said, the bartender’s friendly service and the overall vibe of the place make it worth a visit.
