I had gone to the other restaurants on this dock and had great experiences. So, I wanted to try this restaurant as well. I ordered a Captains Platter sampler for my friend and I to split. The menu description made it sound HUGE with an assortment of fresh seafood and it was the highest priced item for the appetizers. So I figured it would be more than enough. However, it came out on a small side salad sized plate. The "prawns" were actually salad shrimp (2), Oysters (2), scallops (2) and "Calamari"(2). Nothing seemed fresh aside from the oysters. The calamari were long wet, limp fishstick looking things. It looked more like a $4 plate rather than $15. We started to try the player when I noticed a thick black hair on the plate *pictured*. We were both pretty grossed out. Then our clam chowder bread bowls came out. And I was relieved to see that it looked just like a canned clam chowder (because I shouldn't have to worry about hair in it). We won't be going back. The whole meal cost $50. For something I could have made at home better (without hair). I should have just gone to Crabbys.
Food was awesome. Fresh seafood and chicken and burgers for those that aren't a fan of seafood. Will definitely be back!
While the handicap accommodations are lacking, the staff more than made up for it. Our waitress was great, friendly and efficient. The food prices are as expected for fresh seafood, and well worth it. We shared some amazing clam chowder, and had the best prawns!! The homemade tarter sauce, coleslaw, and perfectly prepared fries, topped off the whole experience. We will definitely be stopping in Griff's again!
Great view of the water while you eat. Sadly our fish wasn't great. We had the halibut and it was over cooked and kind of rubbery/chewy. It was hot on the deck and I think our waitress kept forgetting we were out there. She was really nice but forgot our waters, never asked about refills the sodas, we asked for a box for my grandma to take her food home and we never got that, never got ketchup we asked for either. We got the bill but after roasting for 15 minutes we just took our bill up to register. Maybe that's how you are supposed to pay but we weren't told and most places when they give you the bill with the little folder for your card you wait for them to take it. Anyway we still left a 15 dollar tip because we do appreciate all people who are willing to work jobs instead of sitting at home. 👍
The Cod was so unbelievably delicious! Cod is usually not a go to for me, but Fish & Chips sounded good to me the evening I ate here and I'm so glad it did! Also the scallops and the shrimp from the combo appetizer was to die for! I don't enjoy calamari or oysters but my husband claims they were just as good. The cook here knew what they were doing, I can't honestly compare with any other seafood restaurant in the area but I can say this place is fabulous!
