Stunning views all along this trail. Best to start at Kentucky Falls Trail and then down this trail. If you hike it with a friend, leave one vehicle at this trailhead before driving up to K.Falls to start. Easy hike for those that hike a lot and are in good shape. Otherwise you may find this a bit difficult. Happy Trails! Lots of photo ops and very few people hike this trail. Lots of water all along this trail too.

It's says easy and technically it is. There's a nice amount of switch backs and if your hiking the whole 8+ miles of n.f smith and Kentucky falls about in the middle there's a steep upgrade either way. Currently it's not to flooded along the path with a few not so graceful hops I only got one foot wet out of the possible 4 times this can happen. There's a nice amount of bridges ranging from a log with a hand rail and a brand new bridge that still smells freshly cut when you cross it. There are also a few spots along the trail about every two miles or so we're people have camped and several good spot to scout out for swimming. There were hot and cold pockets of air. It would be damp and cool by the river but then we'd hit a random spot were it just dries out even the air feels drier. Or it will switch from pine trees to the ocean coast smell. The parking areas are small but everyone was really friendly. We staged a car at the nf trail head and then drove back up staged to other vehicle and hiked down. There was a total of 6 groups one was like 10 people I assume a bird watching or nature group the rest were no bigger then three. We started at 11:30am about and made it to the end by about 5pm that was with breaks and taking small stops for pictures. Bring lots of water we took two 16 oz one 28oz and two body armours plus some 16 oz and 32 oz smoothies cheese veggie chips Luna bars Belvita bars boiled eggs some trail mix. The snacks were enough for two people (we had a third but he whined the whole time because he forgot his portion of the snacks and was upset there wasn't enough for all of us) I'd bring more water next time as well. Also don't dress in too heavy of layers as you will get hot but also if you sit for a long period of time you'll notice the wind more and cool off pretty fast in about 30 mins I went from a tank top and leggings to my two coats I brought and zipped em up all the way. Oh and watch out for all the pot holes for some of the road up or downed trees or the blind corners check the weather to as it may snow or be foggy and the fog really is the worst to drive through up here. It's like the mist thick. Bring good hiking shoes to it gets slippery.
