Our favorite beach in Florence. Always clean, never over crowded. You e got to walk up a pretty steep dune to get in and out but it's worth the quick walk.

Giant dunes that were so fun to explore! i would definitely make time to enjoy this view and the beach. There was virtually no people at the time we went (early morning).

Beautiful photo opportunity!
I think this is one of my favorite photos of our trip.
I almost didn't bother to climb the sandy dune.
The view from the top and picture I got was well worth it!

Amazingly beautiful beach!
This is a nice, long, beach with beautifully fine, white-ish sands. One must climb a dune to get to the water which was fun and almost magical. Cresting the dune, one can imagine being an explorer from the Central or Eastern Us and seeing the Pacific for the first time. It is awesome! After creating the dune, we had fun walk-sliding down the fine sand, to the bottom. Once at the bottom, we walked for over an hour and still had lots of beach to walk before we decided to turn back. There were no long strings of seaweed or kelp or jellyfish (which you normally find on pacific beaches) nor were there sand flies to ruin the experience. Just pure, unadulterated beach for many, many, many hundredths of meters or feet (not sure, maybe two or three miles?)
There were people and dogs on the beach but no droppings from either that we could see. There were also a couple of quads but again (and fortunately) users kept their distance and were respectful of those walking. Stopped several times to just listen to the surf crash on the very flat beach.
Be prepared to find some sort of dead or dying wildlife. It is the edge of the ocean and thus teeming with wildlife. We, personally, found a sea lion carcass but if you keep your distance you will probably not smell the decay.
Of note, apparently this beach was once host to a large whale carcass which was exploded, on purpose, by human beings while the event was televised. I can’t confirm that this is the exact beach, but I have been told…
I recommend walking, riding, atv-ing this beach. It is beautiful! Save some energy for the climb back over the dunes to return to your vehicle though…as the sand is very fine, you will find yourself sliding halfway with every step you take.

A quick stroll over a sand dune from the parking lot leads to ocean views and the beach. Be prepared to meet up with lots of dogs along the path. It seems like four out of every five people you encounter have one. Still plenty of beach to share with everyone (and their dogs). Good family destination. Restrooms available. Be sure to have a pass if you leave your vehicle unattended.
