Fun day at the beach. Funny how the onshore wind brought the gloomy clouds, yet 1 mile inland was blue skies and 15 degrees warmer. Check your weather and look for days with offshore winds. Lots of fun off-road vehicles around.
I have always liked it here lots of good memories over the years playing in the sand and teasing the waves. I didn't see any starfish this time though and also seen some dead seagulls on the beach it's sad to see this happen. All things considered still a fun place to be.
It was different experience to look out while panorama view. Green trees and some kind of unknown names of plants a lot for front view after climbing sand uphill a bit but little bit stiff It will be totally compensate all of effort by scenic view for 360 degree Senior and kids should be tough to climbing then recommend other day use area ,
If you feel like eating, climbing on all 4s, bathing in, and overall just living with sand on you for the next decade....plus having the wind use the sand to rip your skin off. .this is the beach for you! Haaaaa Seriously though, the beach itself is so pretty once you make it over the path and down the dunes. It's getting back to your path that is difficult and near impossible. Dog friendly. Free. Extremely windy!! Probably NOT infant or small dog friendly because of the sand and wind. Go further down the road and there is a pier and a smaller beach area that is much better for them. Still windy but not as bad. Plus they can see the guys crabbing and picking oysters from what seems like the middle of the lake. Do not choose this spot for the sunset though. Best to go over by the Sea Lion cave for that.
Came here to work for the day (June 2023) and walk by the beach during my break. The toilets weren't working at that time, unsure of the current status. Was fairly empty during the week, but I'm sure it gets busier on weekends. National park pass covers the parking fee. Sand hill to go over and access the beach
