4 star because the difficult terrain and multiple trails that lead off trail. 6 mile round trip to beach from here. There’s easier access elsewhere but still a decent hike. Waterways thru out for pups to swim!

First things first: $5 fee area, but there isn't a place to pay here. About a mile south of here is the Tahkenitch Campground. There's a place to pay there so that you can have the stub as proof of payment in your car. There's also a separate trailhead there that meets up with the Tahkenitch Creek Trail near the beach. However, it is often busy with people. The Tahkenitch Creek Trailhead has less parking available, but fewer people visit. There is a single bathroom. The trail itself is well-maintained, but the only maps you will find are small wooden maps along the trail itself. There are quite a few "small trails" that branch off of the main trails, but it's not too difficult to figure out which is the main. The trek is pretty easy and about 2.5 miles to the beach. There isn't anything special about this portion of Oregon coastline. But it's a nice reward for making the journey. In October and November, the trail is full of various mushrooms and other fungi. I included pictures as examples. Overall, it's a pleasant trail. I highly recommend taking it during mushroom season for the best experience.
