Yachats State Recreation Area is a wonderful day use area in Yachats along the Pacific Ocean. There's restrooms, picnic tables, lots of grassy areas for children to play or to walk your dog, parking with an ocean view, and overlook. There is a viewing platform with informational signs and steps leading down to the rocky beach below. Between the rocky outcroppings, there is sand at lower tides, and when the smelt are running, they are available in the sandy areas. One of our favorite spots along the Oregon Coast to pause and enjoy the views of the Pacific Ocean! Do yourself a favor and check it out! What a nice little place to pull off and enjoy! Plenty of little trails for walking, benches for sitting and just enjoying the ocean, waves and sunsets. It is very mesmerizing just watching the waves crash against the rocks. On days you can feel the sheer power of the waves crashing into the rocks. The picture of the sign, the 2 very different birds were spending time with each other. It was a sight.
There is playground for the kids. It is dogfriendly and ther restrooms are well kept and clean. The nature is out of this world beautiful and the park ranger we met, very friendly.
Check tide times, arrive at low tide, and bring tools to dig for mussel .Bring telescope to watch seabirds prey, it is best to wear hiking shoes to prevent slipping, do not step on wet rocks, try to go to a dry place, it is be worth to stay here day use only.
This is an excellent place to watch sunset in Yachats. Out hotel was just a block away from here. There is some parking and it was not that busy when we went. There is a restroom as well. You can go down and njoy the sound of waves crashing into the rocks. A great place to catch a glimpse of the sunset.
